Hellsmenger’s playing a friendly on July 27th

By don giroux | July 21, 2008

I’m helping organize a friendly game on Sunday July 27th, 8:15pm - Plymouth Ice Arena. The level of play is semi competitive but the goal of the game is to have a good time and a couple of beers afterwards with the other team.  Most of the players are from my Tuesday Minnesota Wild Adult Hockey League (C Division) . We are looking for 3 players (2 defence, 1 forward). If you are interested in playing let me know asap.

I assume the cost will be $10 each or there about.

Another Great Product Added To Our Line Up

By don giroux | July 16, 2008

I was introduced to Hockey Hands about six months ago when I bought my last pair of hockey gloves. I should mention that one of the main reasons for the purchase was because my old pair smelled so bad. Colin Cook, the owner and creator of Hockey Hands, read my blog review and sent me this comment. “Looks like you picked a nice pair of gloves and they will help with the smell. However, if you want to make your wife really happy, you should get a bottle of Hockey Hands. Hockey Hands gets rid of the horrible smell caused by your gloves and also kills 99.99% of the bacteria. I guarantee your wife will be very satisfied when you get home!” I’ll be the first to admit that I was a little skeptical but I thought if I could keep my hands germ free and help prevent my new pair of gloves from smelling so bad it was worth a try.

Long story short, it works so well I decided to call Colin up and see if we could help him distribute the product here in Minnesota. There’s currently only one retailer carrying Hockey Hands (Hockey Zone, 724 3rd Street South , Waite Park, MN 56387 ,(877) 856-0595 www.hockeyzonemn.com) here in Minnesota so there’s plenty of room to grow. A bottle last a very long time, which isn’t the best for resales, but it’s great for the customer and at $8.95 it works out to be only a few cents per spray. Check out this video from Let’s play hockey International Hockey Expo in Las Vegas. Please leave a comment or call Don Giroux at 612-321-1899 if you’d like to carry hockey hands in your store or would like to try it out.

My summer hockey league started

By don giroux | June 12, 2008

Our Monday night shinny/pick up game has enabled me to meet many new people from the Twin Cities. One person in particular, Jerry Mlekoday, invited me to play on his team, Hell’s Messengers, in the Minnesota Wild Adult Hockey League. The summer league runs from June 1-August 27, 2008. Our first game got canceled due to a scheduling error so this past Tuesday was our first game. We didn’t win but it was still nice to play a competitive game and meet new people. I managed to score the first goal of the season for our team which is always nice and the line I’m playing on seems to have some chemistry.

Playing hockey has really made it possible to establish a wide network of friends in a very short period of time. This is exactly why my business partner, Derrik Dyka, and I have decided to take HockeyIsOurGame.com to the next level. Creating a venue for hockey players to get together and play the game they love. It’s simple, we organize the ice, and our members can register for the times that are most convenient for them. It’s free to join and the great thing is there’s no long term commitment. New to a city, on a business trip, looking to get back on the ice or just want some extra ice time, HockeyIsOurGame.com is the perfect place to find a friendly game where you can meet new people, work on your skills, and get some exercise.

We are starting with the Twin Cities area but will be expanding rapidly across the U.S and Canada. I’m looking forward to organizing games back in Toronto for when I visit. We’ll be posting updates on the progress of subscriptions, games, new developments etc. in the coming weeks. I’ll also try to keep everyone abreast of the hockey world in general.

Summer Hockey / Ice Skating for Minneapolis Kids

By derrikd | April 12, 2008

I am just putting out the feelers to see if anyone would be interested in an informal skating/summer program for kids in Minneapolis.

I am thinking 10 weeks, 1 Saturday or Sunday morning a weekend, for a total of 10 hours of ice.

Cost would be about $100/child.

I would like to keep Griffin and Gavin skating and I figure some other people might want to do the same.

Ice would be rented somewhere within 5 miles of Washburn High. Either the SLP arena, Richfield, Blake, or something like that.

If you have any interest let me know and I will see if I can put it together.
