Growing up in Ontario, Canada, you’d think I would have been a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. I’m also French Canadian so the Montreal Canadians would have been a logical choice as well. The truth is I had Minnesota North Stars posters plastered all over my room and cheered for the likes of Neil Broten and Brian Bellows. Like all other North Star fans, I was shocked when Norm Green decided to move the team to Dallas. I’m sure it was harder for those of you in Minnesota (I had some other teams to turn to) but it was very disappointing to this Canadian Minnesota fan.
Searching for a new team to cheer for I choose a team that had been absent from the NHL for over 60 years, the Ottawa Senators. I was attending the University of Otawa at the time so I figured why not jump on the bandwagon. That only lasted a few years and now they’re one of my least favorite teams. I moved to Toronto and after living there for 10 years became a die hard blue and white fan. I really don’t understand why someone would subject themselves to being a leafs fan…they haven’t had a really good team in over ten years…but somehow I’ve become one. I won’t get into it right now but I’ll definitely be posting an article about that subject soon.
In any case, I’m now living here in Minneapolis, MN and am rekindling an old relationship. They have a new name but the Minnesota Wild are exciting, talented and fun to watch. I’ll be posting updates about the Wild and reviewing each game. Well maybe not each game but most of them. If you’re a fan please comment on my posts and let me know if you agree or if you think I should keep on cheering for my Leafs.
