Hockey Club Torpedo adds pick up game to PUHF

We are happy to announce that Hockey Club Torpedo has added their Friday night pick up game at Bloomington Ice Garden to Pick Up Hockey Finder .com. They also play in the C - II Minnesota Wild Adult League at the Schwan Super Rink. C - II is a transitional level for weaker C teams,teams that are moving up from D level or for teams with a higher number of less experienced skaters. They are looking for extra skaters to play with them Friday nights or teams of the same level to scrimmage against.

I played with Sergei Zagorski, the organizer of this pick up game, this past summer and he’s a great guy. They have a great group of people playing and I highly recommend them especially if you speak Russian or understand it.

Since we’ve met so many great people over the last 8 months, while organizing our pick-up hockey games, we decided to launch a new website called myhockeycontacts.com.

My Hockey Contacts is the latest of our hockey projects and one we are extremely proud of it. We know that working and doing business with like minded people is always easier and ALMOST always seems to work out better. We’d like to help out our friends who’ve either helped us or demonstrated superior customer service and business skills.

Minnesota Made Ice has our seal of approval

As previously mentioned, we held our first Friday Night pick-up game at Minnesota Made Ice Center and we were not disappointed. The ice was hard and crisp allowing for a fast paced game and the temperature in the arena was nice and cool. I’ve played at a few other arenas this summer which felt like saunas.

The facilities are nice and clean and the main lobby entrance is inviting. With pro shop, concession stand and the nice added touch of WIFI it makes for a great place to play or watch.

I’d like to thank Amy for working with us on getting things going with Pickuphockeyfinder.com. We look forward to playing at Minnesota Made for a long time.

Friday Night Hockey in Minnesota

Hey all,

Well our new schedule of pick up hockey is ready but unfortunately the PickUpHockeyFinder.com site still needs some fine tuning. We have ice booked at Minnesota Made Ice Center Friday August 15th at 8:50pm. This is a fun pick up game with average overall players but all are welcome. No checking, slap shots ok.

We are looking for more skaters and another goalie. If you’d like to play please email Don Giroux or if you know of someone who might send them this link.

Working on a new logo

We are working on a logo which will be for www.HockeyIsOurGame.com and www.PickUpHockeyFinder.com.

This is just a rough draft but basically the look we’re going to go with. I’ve asked family and friends and they really like the take on the Minnesota North Stars but it’s always nice to get more feedback.

We’d like to hear your thoughts….

Kor Shift 2 are the real deal

I just got my new pair of Kor Shift 2 skates and the verdict is simply…WOW!!!

I ‘ve been skating all my life (ok…I started when I was 2 1/2 years old) and have tried on and bought many different brand of skates. I know most of them have improved their design and quality over the years but when I made my second stride with the new Kor Shift 2 skates i knew right away someone got it right.

We all know breaking in a new pair of skates isn’t always fun. With all sizes and shapes of feet out there, it’s understandable that making a solid skate that’s light and fits properly would be a challenge. Well, like I said, Kor managed to do it and then some.

I’m not a professional player but like I said I’ve played my fair share of hockey. I could immediately tell the light weigh design would allow for quicker strides and the fact my foot fit so well into the boot (due to the baking and molding process) there would be no waste of energy. After only a couple of minutes, it was like I had been using them for ages. I don’t want to go on and on about them because I’d be writing all day but I have to say…if you’re playing competitively or just like to have the best stuff buy these skates. You won’t be disappointed.

This has nothing to do with hockey but….

Two hockey events I’d like to see here in the U.S.

There’s an interesting stat I’d like to share with you before I get into this post…
The number of registered hockey players in Canada is 428,390 or 1.11% of the population and in the U.S. 435,737 or 0.15% of the population.

I find this stat very interesting not only because I would have never guessed it but because it’s nice to see there’s that many registered hockey players here in the U.S. The game of hockey has definitely had it’s ups and downs over the years but things seem to be rolling along nicely at the moment. That’s why I say it’s definitely not the time to take the foot off the pedal. This is precisely why I’d like to see events similar to Kraft Hockeyville and Play On here in the U.S. (Note: Play On is looking for people to organize here in the U.S.). The potential for growth in the United States is huge and with the number of professional teams here, the NHL and everyone involved should be sponsoring, starting or assisting in events such as these to help promote grassroots hockey.

I guess what I’m getting at is I’m ready to plug away and help be apart of promoting hockey here in the U.S. and around the world. I’ve already registered www.hockeyvilleusa.com to get the ball rolling.
